Jean Taglavore.
Second Grade.
Originally from Virginia, Mrs. Taglavore received her degree in Elementary Education at Liberty University in 1986. While teaching in a Christian school in Portsmouth, VA, she met her husband, a naval officer from Texas, at her local church. They have been married for 33 years and have raised 2 children. When their children were in the elementary grades, Mrs. Taglavore stepped down from teaching 2nd grade in their church’s school in Charlottesville,VA in order to home-school their children and give them her undivided time and attention. In 2014, her husband had a job transfer to Annapolis, MD, and the family moved to Denton, MD. They began attending Wye Bible Church, and Mrs. Taglavore taught Kindergarten and Jr. Kindergarten at Little Lamb Preschool for nearly 5 years.
After both of her children graduated from college in the middle of the pandemic, Mrs. Taglavore felt led to go back to elementary classroom teaching. After passing the Maryland State Praxis tests and obtaining a teaching license in both Maryland and Delaware, Mrs. Taglavore has spent the last few years substituting and teaching in both states. While looking for a school a little closer to home, Mrs.Taglavore was led to Lighthouse Christian School and is excited to be teaching classical education on the 2nd grade level. She has a minor in music and has studied sign language. She enjoys directing the annual Children’s Christmas Program at Wye Bible, and often writes her own scripts.
