Katie Williams.
Upper School History.
Mrs. Williams is a Maryland native, and a Queen Anne’s County resident since 2000, where over the past 25 years she and her husband Chris have raised their five children. Her love for teaching began while she was still a young student herself. After reading Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in the summer of her 8th grade year, she was inspired to teach the other kids in the neighborhood about what she believed to be too beautiful to keep to herself. However, the neighborhood kids did not share her same enthusiasm for Shakespeare! After completing a research project on public education in high school, she decided to become a certified teacher.
She received one of the last combination Bachelor of Science degrees in Elementary/Middle School Education, with a minor in Literature, from Towson University in 1996. After teaching for 3 years in elementary and middle school, she started her family. When her oldest son began Kindergarten in 2005, she returned to teaching at a homeschool co-op and thus began her renewed interest in education.
She has been teaching in co-ops, tutorials, Sunday Schools, and cottage schools for the past 20 years. She loves to make learning come alive by actively engaging with the content through activities such as acting, debating, taking field trips, and recreating events. But more than anything else, she wants her students to say, ”What a mighty God we serve!” She enjoys writing, reading, swimming, puzzles, spending time outside, music, long deep talks over coffee, walks with her husband in the evening, going to historical sites and museums, and watching British mysteries. However, she is most thankful for the opportunity to watch her children (and granddaughter!) grow in the Lord and walk in the truth.
We are so blessed to have Mrs. Williams come aboard with us this fall teaching Upper School History!
